Kate Flannery

Kate’s singing and teaching career began while she was studying at Newcastle Conservatorium in 1990-93. Originally majoring as a clarinettist, Kate started singing professionally in Newcastle and Sydney in duos, trios and big bands. She has performed with major artists such as Silverchair, Kate Ceberano, John Paul Young in such venues as the Hilton Marble Bar, Hard Rock Café, Fair Princess Ocean Liner and Sydney Opera House. Kate has been teaching voice with UHCM for the last 20 years. She has a love for all contemporary vocal styles and performance techniques, and aims to help every student discover the joy of music and performance.

Leisa Vaughan grew up in the Queensland town of Ipswich and from an early age was introducted to her love of music, through her musical family.  A child performer, Leisa was identified early for her musical talents and began to win state and local championships for piano and voice before the age of ten.  This led her on to study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and the Brisbane College of Advanced Education, specialising in Piano, Voice and Primary Music Education.

With her passion for choirs and vocal performance, Leisa has had the opportunity to perform at the Opera House with the Australian Youth Choir, conduct  the Australian Girls Choir  (including  the Qantas advertisement filmed at Uluru), direct childrens and adult community choirs and also work closely building and developing worship teams for medium to large churches.

Leisa has continued to mentor and teach individual voice and piano students through all grades and age groups for over 30 years. She excells in identifing their gifts/style of music and promoting a flexible learning enviroment that fosters musical excellence, performance, musicianship and the joy of making music.
