Jennifer Kershaw
                                 
Jennifer Kershaw graduated from the University of Queensland in 1986 with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in violin performance & studio teaching. She then continued her studies with renowned violin teacher, Jan Sedivka at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music, receiving a Graduate Diploma in 1989. For the next 5 years, she taught at a number of private schools as well as privately in Launceston, along with freelance orchestral playing, including leading orchestras in performances of various large scale choral works such as Handel’s “Messiah” and the Mozart “Requiem”. During this time she also was Musical Director and conductor of the Northern Tasmanian Youth Orchestra, helped to found the Residential Summer String Camp which continues to hold an annual Camp each year in Northern Tasmania, and gained an A.Mus.A. in piano.

In 1994, Jennifer moved to Deniliquin in South West NSW to take up a position as Music Director of South West Music Inc., a community music program serving a wide geographical area. Her activities there involved organising the instrumental tution program, music camps, visiting performances and masterclasses and promoting music in the region, in addition to teaching individual students and conducting a number of ensembles.

Since 1999, Jennifer has resided in Muswellbrook, teaching violin, viola, piano and theory with the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music and developing the Upper Hunter Conservatorium Orchestra and String ensembles. She is also enjoys playing the oboe and singing.
