Gillian Miles
Gillian Miles is an experienced Piano and ‘Cello teacher, having been teaching for almost thirty years. As a performer Gillian has achieved 8th Grade Piano, 7th Grade Musicianship and Suzuki Level 6. Gillian began was accepted into South East Queensland University and completed time there before leaving to raise her family.
As a teacher Gillian has worked with a large number of students, sharing her obvious passion and enjoyment of music with all of them. In this time her students have received excellent results with several receiving the AMUSA award. Several of her students have gone on to a career in music, performing and teaching in various locations including with the Australian Ballet.
Aside from teaching Gill has also been heavily involved in the Scone and Upper Hunter community, working with students and Rouchel Public School and Scone Grammar School and serving on the Board of the Upper Hunter Conservatorium to name a few. Since 2001 Gillian has also been the administrator and main driving force behind the annual Upper Hunter Shire and Kia-Ora Youth Music Camp, a camp designed for all students within the Upper Hunter Shire to have access to and learn to appreciate music and the performing arts.
Gillian has also trained and worked as a nurse and now is the mother of 5 children and 1 grand-child.
