Charlotte McCauley

Began her study of the Clarinet at the age of eleven under the tuition of Mrs. Val Godden of the Tamworth Regional Conservatorium and later privately with Dr. Elisabeth Kelvin of Tamworth.  Charlotte performed actively as a member of many local ensembles during this time including the Tamworth Clarinet Choir, Tamworth Regional Conservatorium Clarinet Choir, Tamworth Regional Conservatorium Youth Orchestra, Regional Youth Orchestra, Tamworth High School Concert and Stage Bands.

In 2003, Charlotte toured New Zealand with the Tamworth Clarinet Choir, performing in Dunedin, Invercargill, Te Anau, Queenstown and Christchurch.  In 2005 and 2006, Charlotte was selected to participate in the New South Wales Department of Education State Schools Wind Band which culminated with two performances at the Sydney Opera House during the Festival of Instrumental Music.

In 2005, Charlotte was the first ever Music recipient of the Halliday Scholarship Program, which was established by Tamworth High School with sponsorship by a former Tamworth High School student, Mr. Michael Halliday.  Charlotte was awarded her scholarship in recognition of musical contributions she made to the school community.  At the conclusion of her secondary schooling in 2006, Charlotte received the Therese Post Trophy for Contribution to Music.

In 2010, Charlotte graduated from The University of Newcastle Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music majoring in Studio Teaching. Under the tuition of Dr. Ian Cook, Charlotte studied Clarinet and immersed herself in further instrumental studies including the Bass, Alto and Basset Clarinets.  Charlotte was an active participant in various ensembles, both large and small, including the University of Newcastle Wind Orchestra and The University of Newcastle Symphony Orchestra.  She has performed locally with these ensembles as well as other local ensembles.

Charlotte is very passionate about improving the musical opportunities for children in remote country areas and regularly travels around New South Wales for the New South Wales Department of Education tutoring at music workshops and instrumental camps.  To this aim, Charlotte has joined the staff of the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music to contribute to the musical education of students in schools throughout the Upper Hunter.
